Special Meeting
Minutes
March 11, 2003
Commissioner Welch opened the meeting and took the roll call. Present: Comm. Welch and Comm. Camardo and Comm. Brennan. Also present was Police Chief Giannotta, Police Officer Jeff Dixon, Officer Angelo Spinelli and Police Officer , Tim Cottrell , president of the police union. Also, present J.D. Pabis, the Assistant Superintendent of the Auburn School District.
Old Business
Police Dept.
Discussion held for the upcoming Police Captain exam and also the entire police series of civil service exams in regards to the minimum qualifications to sit for the exams.
Only position agreed upon by the Police Chief and the union was the police sergeant being able to take exam after 2years as a police Lieutenant or ten years as a police officer.
Motion made by Comm. Brennan to approve those minimum qualifications for the next upcoming exam for Police Sergeant. Motion seconded by Comm. Welch. Motion carried 3-0.
All the other positions and levels for qualifying are tabled until the next meeting scheduled for April 3, 2003. At that time the Commission wants to review the police chief and also the unions views on minimum qualifications for the remaining police series exams. These views are to be presented in writing to the Commission. A canvas of small cities in the state in regards to their qualifications in also to be completed.
School District
The new job duty statement for the position at the school has been reviewed and concurred that the title will be Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds. Motion made by Comm. to approve this title and seconded by Comm. Camardo. Motion carried 3-0.
Motion to adjourn made by Comm. Camardo and seconded by Comm. Welch. Meeting adjourned at 11:30 am.
